Raze’s set of abilities allows her to clear areas quickly, and with her Blast Pack ability, she can gain a height advantage. She’s quite the versatile Agent which makes her good for rushing sites while attacking and defending from incoming opponents.
This Agent has a lot of firepower, so she is perfect for beginners looking to master the game. She is the only duelist with an arsenal of explosives that can effectively take down the opponent without precise gunplay. This is perfect for players just making their way into the FPS realm who may lack precision aiming experience.
That is not to say you can pick up and go when it comes to playing raise. Some of her other abilities, such as the Blast Pack, may require some getting used to. Raze is great for those getting used to Valorant. In this character guide, we will show you Raze’s abilities and tricks.
Boombot
With this ability, Raze equips a Boom Bot. Fire to deploy the bot, causing it to travel in a straight line on the ground, bouncing off walls. The Boom Bot will lock on any enemies in its frontal cone and chase them, exploding for heavy damage if it reaches them. Enemies can destroy the Boom Bot. It has 100 HP and lasts for 10 seconds. It changes direction every time it hits a surface and has a cone-shaped sensor to detect enemies.
The Boom Bot is best used for disrupting the enemy and if you aggressively peek after setting it up. This will force the enemy to retreat or choose between getting blasted by the Boom Bot while attempting to duel you.
It is also a good way to disrupt enemies who aggressively use line-of-sight abilities such as smokes and walls. The Boom Bot can easily spot a target and explode if the enemy is focused on placement.
Blast Pack
With this ability, Raze instantly throws a Blast Pack that will stick to surfaces and begins arming over 0.5 sec. Re-use to detonate to damage and knock away anything hit. Shooting the pack will also detonate it. Damage falls off 30% at the max range, but it will not damage Raze or allies. However, they can still suffer fall damage.
This can be a helpful ability to propel Raze up or forward depending on the timing and the position you are angled to the Blast Pack. It can deal 75 damage to enemies, but throwing it at opponents is not recommended as it can put you in a rough spot should it get shot.
It may be costly, but getting double Blast Pack for a boost can make for some creative plays, especially if Raze has her Showstopper Ultimate. Some videos by Diamond Lobby Clips show how the double Blast Pack can benefit you.
Paint Shells
This ability allows Raze to equip a cluster grenade. Fire to throw the grenade to deal damage and create sub-munitions that will explode and deal further damage.
This ability can be used strategically to check corners and can be a good area controlling ability due to the delayed clusters.
A good strategy for the Paint Shells is to launch them into the air. The cluster grenades do not detonate until they hit the ground, so if the Paint Shell is thrown in the air, it can be sort of like a small air strike as shown in this video. To pull this off, it is better to do it in areas where there are multiple corners to weave around, but you can also do this while aggressively pushing for a kill by throwing it upwards and then running.
Ultimate: Showstopper
Raze’s Ultimate allows her to equip a single-use Rocket Launcher and light its fuse. Fire to launch a rocket that will travel in a straight line and explode on impact. This deals serious damage to enemies caught in the blast radius.
This ability does extremely high damage and is mostly a guaranteed kill when used correctly. It does 20-200 damage depending on how near the enemy is to the point of impact. This must be used strategically as it does friendly fire as well.
Tips and Tricks
Raze is a powerful player, but she comes at a high risk since her ability can do collateral damage to the team. Also, if her boost plays are heard, she can be stopped. However, she is relatively strong and can perform at a high level on her own once you learn how to use her.
- Blast Pack boosts are going to be your biggest advantage. Practice using this move creatively to either boost yourself or launch yourself higher. If you are entering sites by double-jumping, use the Spectre, Bulldog, or Phantom over other weapons. This will give you more close-range accuracy.
- Paint Shells can catch enemies off guard with the delayed cluster barrage. This ability can be tossed into the air to create a mini airstrike that can catch your opponents off guard.
- Boom Bot is best used during pistol rounds for an extra advantage. You can also use this inside smokes, so the enemy does not see it coming.
- Raze it at her most vulnerable when jumping up with Blast Packs or aiming her grenade; it can be difficult to control any weapon in mid-air. Be cautious.
Raze is one of the highest damage output Agents in the game. She’s got an explosive kit that deals massive damage, but the key to playing her is finding different and creative ways to utilize her abilities.
