In April 2024, Raidiant joined forces with Psyonix and Ally to bring us Star Chasers Showdown. This Rocket League tournament series, featuring three series and culminating with an all-stars event in November, was not just about competition. It was a platform designed to spotlight women and other marginalized genders in the competitive gaming scene, a beacon of hope for diversity in gaming.
With a generous prize pool of $75,000 distributed across the series and finale, the tournament invited players from Europe and North America to showcase their talents. Each series included Open Qualifiers, providing each team, regardless of their level of expertise, a shot at qualifying for the Main Event.
One team that truly embodied the spirit of the competition was Quack Quack, the champion of Series 3 Europe Showdown. Its journey through the tournament showcased exceptional skill, teamwork, and determination. Here’s all you need to know about Quack Quack and how it rose to victory.
Star Chaser Showdown series 3 EU winners spotlight
The Series 3 Star Chasers Showdown Europe, held in September 2024, concluded with an impressive victory by Team Quack Quack. The team dominated the competition early on, establishing a 6-goal differential in the group stage. Good results continued in the semifinals, where Quack Quack beat Seamingly Diving with a score of 4-2. This victory secured the team’s position in the grand finals, where they swept the competing team BS+ COMPETITION with a clean 4-0 win. Alicia “Alemz” Martínez, the grand finals’ MVP, was key to this outstanding victory. This wasn’t Alemz’s first rodeo, as she has consistently proved to be one of the game’s elite, being one of the key players of the winning team in many tournaments since the start of 2024.
Despite the difficult situation the team faced after the passing of close friend and teammate Millie “Duckz” Ward, Quack Quack showed remarkable resilience. The team secured a victory with amazing communication and the support of a skilled substitute. In honor of Duckz’s memory, the team decided on Quack Quack as the name, a heartfelt tribute. The ability to overcome such a challenging situation is a testament to the players’ strength and unity, which we all admire and support.
In her interview with Raidiant, Alemz pointed out how, despite the difficult situation, the team was able to secure the victory with the help of Erina “Reina” Peperzak. Erina has since retired from the competitive Rocket League, but her achievements still mark her as a fierce competitor in the esports scene. She has competed in multiple tournaments, including Supergirl Gamer Pro 2023 and Boost Championship, both important tournaments in the Rocket League scene.
Another talented member of team Quack Quack is Sophie “Stvn” Stevenson. Due to her consistent performances in Rocket League tournaments, Stvn has made a name for herself in the Rocket League scene. As a key member of team Williams Resolve, she helped secure victory in tournaments like Ally Women’s Open: Europe and Herculyse’s New Era Series: Galentine’s Day Tourney. Stvn has consistently proven to be a key player in her teams, and we hope to see even more from her in the future.
Takeaway
Team Quack Quack, the winning team of Star Chaser Showdown series 3 EU, showed the power of communication and adaptability, especially in distressing times. The team’s truly impressive performance in the tournament was not only the result of good teamwork but also impressive skill. We can look forward to seeing even more from these fantastic players in the future, as it’s not an exaggeration to say that such players play a crucial role in amplifying marginalized voices in the competitive esports scene.
