VCT Game Changers has started its 2025 run, beginning with the Kickoff Tournament. The tournament began with open qualifiers in January, leading into the main event from February 11 – 16. 32 teams competed on the GSL Group stage until they were down to 16. These 16 teams entered a double-elimination bracket, where the top 8 advanced to the Main Event.
The main event was a double elimination best-of-three tournament with best-of-five finals. After the dust settled, Wadadaa emerged victorious! Here is a look at their journey to the top.
Open Qualifiers
The Open Qualifiers for the VCT Game Changers took place between January 28th and February 1st. In the Group Stage format, there were eight GSL groups of four teams each, all matches were best of three, and the top two teams from each group advanced to the Playoffs.
In the Open Qualifiers Group Stage, Wadadaa swept their group, maintaining an undefeated streak into the playoffs. They started in Group F and faced Jimi Hendrix Experience, Momentum GC, and Leena’s Kittens. Wadadaa went 2- 0 against Leena’s Kittens in the first match. The team won 13-2 on Split before dominating the next round 13-0 on Haven.
Wadadaa’s next match was against Jimi Hendrix Experience, where the team again dominated the field with a 13- 8 victory on Abyss and a 13- 3 victory on Split.
Open Qualifier: Playoffs
Upon winning the two Group Stage matches, Wadadaa quickly advanced to the Playoffs. The Playoffs consisted of a sixteen-team double-elimination bracket. The top eight teams advanced to the Kickoff Main Event. All matches were best of three.
Wadadaa kept its momentum up from the Group Stage and managed to get through the Playoffs without a single loss. Its first match was against Berzerkers Dawn in a decisive victory, winning 13-1 on Split, then 13- 6 on Pearl. In round 2, the team went up against Zero Pressure and had another amazing round, winning 13-2 on Bind and 13-1 on Pearl. These wins catapulted them into the qualifiers, where Wadadaa would fight one last time, going head to head against seven other teams.
VCT 2025: Game Changers NA Kickoff Main Event
The qualifiers for the Main Event consisted of Wadadaa, Teddy Tactics, Flyquest RED, YFP X, :3, Bun N’ Gun, shrimp gaming, and Catnappers! The Main Event consisted of a double-elimination bracket. All matches, excluding the Lower Bracket Final and Grand Final, were best-of-three. The Lower Bracket Final and Grand Final were best-of-five.

In the Quarterfinals, Wadadaa went up against Bun N’ Gun. The first match took place on Haven, while the second one was Bind. Bin N’ Gun put up a great fight, but in the end, Wadadaa managed to break away with a 2-0 win. The team won 13-10 on Haven and 13-9 on Bind.
The fight to the finish continued in the Semifinals, where Wadadaa faced the next opponent, FlyQuest RED. For the first time, Wadadaa would see defeat in the first Semifinal match. However, the team didn’t let that defeat blow the wind out of their sails. Wadadaa turned things around in a 13-10 victory on Fracture, so it all came down to the final round.
Wadadaa locked in and took out FlyQuest RED on Bind with a 13-7 victory. The Finals were on the horizon.
Main Event: The Finals
Wadadaa made it to the finals! But before the players could think about Grand Finals, they had to take on YFP X, a team that wanted that victory just as much as they did.
The first match took place on Bind. Both teams came out of the gate swinging, but it would be Wadadaa that took the first win 13-8. Round 2 saw the two finalists head to Haven. Wadadaa would see another 11-13 loss for the second time in this event. So, yet again, it all came down to the final round.
The stage for the final showdown was on Lotus, and Wadadaa once again locked in and knocked its opponents down to the Lower Bracket with a 13-7 victory. There was only one more battle to overcome.
Main Event: Grand Finals
In the Lower Bracket Finals, YFP X and FlyQuest RED fought for a chance to rematch Wadadaa in the Grand Finals for the ultimate prize. The battle was long and hard-fought, but ultimately, FlyQuest RED would win a shot at redemption.
Up against a familiar foe, it was time for Wadadaa to show up again. It was a best-of-five match against the opponent that had handed them their first match loss in the Semifinals round. This wouldn’t be an easy victory. The first match saw them back at Bind. Wadadaa took the first round 13-10, but it wasn’t time to relax just yet. Round 2 would take place on Lotus, and go into overtime as neither team would back down.
When the dust settled, Wadadaa once again emerged victorious, winning 19-17. FlyQuest had one more round to try and turn things around, but Wadadaa shut it down. For the final match, Wadadaa won Split 13-10, winning the VCT 2025: Game Changers NA Kickoff.
