PSYONIX, RAIDIANT ANNOUNCE “STAR CHASERS SHOWDOWN”, A ROCKET LEAGUE TOURNAMENT FOR WOMEN AND MARGINALIZED GENDERS
$30,000 Prize Pool unveiled for the this important esports event that celebrates the next generation of Rocket League stars
Los Angeles, CA, September 18, 2023 – Raidiant, the leading women’s esports broadcast operator and Psyonix, the critically-acclaimed video game developer behind Rocket League are thrilled to announce “Star Chasers Showdown”, a Rocket League tournament designed to celebrate and empower women and marginalized genders in gaming. Broadcast over two weekends in October, the event will showcase the brightest emerging talents from the North American and European Women’s Rocket League scenes in a first-of-its-kind showdown.
“Star Chasers Showdown” will invite up to 32 teams across both regions with women-identifying rosters, embracing inclusivity and diversity in competitive gaming. With an amateur bracket in place for teams that advance to the main event, all teams will have ample opportunities to showcase their talents. Teamless players will have the chance to participate through a dedicated free agent pool, while up-and-coming casters and analysts will shine in the limelight during the Open Qualifier via community streams.
A substantial $30,000 prize pool has been allocated to reward numerous players, reinforcing the commitment to acknowledging the immense talent within the community.
As part of Raidiant and Psyonix’s commitment to celebrating the Rocket League community, “Star Chasers Showdown” will feature the Grand Finals of the Amateur bracket before the Main Event Grand Finals, giving rising players their moment in the spotlight. The ultimate aim is to foster a profound sense of respect and fandom for the hard-working teams competing, strengthening the bonds of community and empowerment within the Rocket League universe.
In addition to fostering competitive gaming, “Star Chasers Showdown” will place a strong emphasis on community engagement. The tournament is dedicated to creating a robust player fanbase by delivering captivating narrative content that allows fans to connect with the participating players on a personal level.
