Skye is an initiator built for gathering information. The strength of this agent lies in her team’s ability to act on the information provided. Skye can take some getting used to, as mastering her plays and controlling her creations can take some time.
Skye is unique in that not only does she excel at initiating attacks and gathering intel, but she’s also capable of healing her allies all at once. In addition, she has a flexible playstyle where she can be aggressive and hunt down enemies with her creations or play more laid-back to aid your allies in need.
Skye is the perfect pick for players looking for a versatile agent, and this guide will help familiarize you with some useful tricks.
Trailblazer (Q) Ability
Equip a Tasmanian tiger trinket. Fire to send out and take control of the predator. While in control, fire to leap forward, exploding in a concussive blast and damaging directly hit enemies.
This ability is a great information-gathering tool and can also push enemies out of position. It’sbest used in close corners due to its limited sight range. Whether you’re defending or attacking, learning when and where to send out the predator will be an integral part of your gameplay.
Since Skye is vulnerable when in control of the predator, it is best never to use it out in the open. Skye also initiates a sound cue when concussing an enemy. This is valuable information that can set you or a teammate up for a quick peek and an easy kill.
Guiding Light (E) Ability
Equip a hawk trinket. Fire to send it forward. Hold Fire to guide the hawk in the direction of your crosshair. Re-use while the hawk is in flight to transform it into a flash that plays a hit confirm if an enemy was within range and line of sight.
If the flight duration expires, your hawk will disappear, so make sure not to waste your flashes. This ability recharges over time, and you start off each round with two charges.
Considered one of the strongest flashes in the game, this is Sky’s most unique ability. Learning how to properly control the hawk, so you can flash enemies in different and unique ways is worth putting some practice into. With some practice you can control your hawk to blind enemies around corners, behind covers, obstacles, and over walls. The flash can be set off at any point and can cover a fair distance which makes it a very useful ability.
Like Trailblaizer, this ability comes with an audio cue when an enemy is successfully blinded. This is useful for gathering information on the enemies whereabouts when you want to engage or reposition.
Regrowth (C) Ability
This tool makes Skye extremely versatile and useful to her team. Unlike Sage’s ability, Skye can heal more than one ally at a time. Her healing pool will deplete at the rate no matter how many allies are benefitting from it, so be sure to use this on as many teammates as you can at once, if possible.
You’re unable to carry a weapon once you begin channeling your ability, so make sure not to use this ability out in the open where you are defenseless and vulnerable.
Seekers (X) Ability / Ultimate
Equip a seeker trinket. Fire to send out three seekers to track down the three closest enemies. If a seeker reaches its target, it nearsights them.
This item can be destroyed before it nearsights them. This can be a useful tool whether the seeker reached its mark or not. Once deployed, nearby enemies will have to decide whether to focus on you and open themselves up to being hit by the ultimate, or they can focus on the seeker and leave themselves open to attack.
The seekers move fairly slow, so learning when to use them is key to maximizing their full potential. It may be best to pair this with Trailblazer or Guiding Light. If you use one of Skye’s other abilities and receive an auditory cue after a successful hit, that can prompt you to send out your seekers to set you and your team up to distract them while you and your team take action. While her ultimate is far from the strongest in the game, if you practice and learn how to time it correctly, it can give your team valuable intel and set them up for a win.
Tips and Tricks
- Trailblazeris best used in corners due to its limited range of sight. This is a great tool for gathering information and/or pushing enemies out of positions.
- Guiding Light is useful for gathering information on your opponents whereabouts. Its audio cue upon a successful blinding of an enemy will help direct you and your team accordingly.
- Make sure not to use Regrowth out in the open as you are unable to carry a weapon.
- If you think the enemy may be rotating towards another site, you can send your Seekers to gather information to help reposition.
Skye is a very versatile character, but she will definitely take some time to master. Take time with her and get comfortable with controlling her abilities, so you can best gauge when to masterfully use them. Even though she is an initiator, you can use her to rush and support your teammates in various ways.
Skye is a great agent for players looking for a support character that can also make aggressive maneuvers in combat. Her versatility allows her to act as an entry fragger, scouter, and a powerful healer.
