The stage has been set. VCT 2025: Game Changers NA has kicked off with its first of two Open Qualifiers. The Open Qualifier began on March 4th and featured 32 teams duking it out until the top eight advanced to Stage 1.

The group stage consisted of 8 GSL groups of four teams each, and all matches were best of three. The top two teams from each group advanced to the Playoffs, consisting of a sixteen-team double-elimination bracket. All playoff matches were best of three as well.

Here’s a rundown of some of the action that took place during the Open Qualifier and a closer look at the eight teams that advanced to Stage 1.

Shopify Rebellion Gold

Shopify Rebellion Gold is no stranger to the VCT Game Changers stage. The team took home third place in 2021 Series 2, and second in 2021 Series 3. Shopify continued that streak, earning second in Series 1, 2, and 3 of VCT 2022: Game Changers NA, the VCT Game Changers Championship 2022, and VCT 2023 Series S1.

In the VCT 2025: Game Changers NA Kick-Off, Alexis, dodonut, meL, Noia, and sarah played for Shopify Rebellion Gold. They advanced to the Playoffs, winning 2-0 against Starry Cats :3 and Alliance Angels.

In the Playoffs, Shopify Rebellion Gold continued its win streak. The team breezed through Prosperity X, winning 13 to 4 at Lotus and 13 to 2 at Haven. Up next, Fisher Fumblers also came up short, losing 12 to 14 at Fracture and 8 to 13 at Haven.

Wadadaa

Wadadaa made its return to VCT Game Changers after a recent win at the VCT Game Changers NA: Kickoff event back in February of this year. Australis, joona, StarBound, and PowerPixele returned from their Kickoff lineup while Femboy played instead of SleepyAria.

The team worked well together and made it to the Playoffs by defeating Terps GC Premier and YDZ Black 2-0, dominating Group B.

Once in the Playoffs, Wadadaa had a strong start, winning 13 to 5 on Lotus and 13 to 0 on Bind against Alliance Angels. However, the team was knocked to the lower bracket in a 2-1 loss to YFP X.
